Our journey- from 8 week old pup, to agility dog, school dog, and trickster. Training thoughts, tips and lots of problem solving, photography and general musings on owning a silly and serious paradoxical Aussie Shepherd.
Almost straight away the dogs launched into the Aussie Body Slam game, as seen here in stage 1 – chase the front dog.
Stage 2 involves biting the front dog on the back, apparently. Mal’s a bit of a dick sometimes.
Stage 3: wherein the front dog twists around to bite the back dog resulting in Aussie Shepherd Body Slam. Please note the Border Collie keeping a safe distance at the back (despite being quick enough to keep up)

Photo 2 from the Lumen Loves (to Run In) Snow series. We hadn’t even arrived at our parking spot yet but had to put snow socks on the car so we let them out for a run anyway.
A nice running moment between Mal and Loki where Mal’s not actually trying to bite Loki on the back.
A little coated fellow.
He can keep up with her now. He’s a quick little devil.
One of my favourite photos though how I wish Lu could have held off on her crazed-snow-face just for a little while….
Dogs on snowy rocks.
“THE ROAD’S CLOSED THIS WAY!!!”
Photo 3 from the Lumen Loves the Snow series. You must eat the snow. Just shovel it right in there.
Play with me in the snow?! Someone!? Anyone!? MAL?! HOW ABOUT YOU?!
Photo 4 from the Lumen Loves (to Run In) Snow series. And Loki’s just being the cute little stalky-BC that he is. Little stalkmaster.
Photo 5 from the Lumen Loves Snow series. One of her favourite things to do in the snow is to run very very fast and then just pounce and make it fly everywhere.
Dogs running in synch #2!
Photo 6 from the Lumen Loves Snow series. “And sometimes, you should SHOVEL the snow, with your nose! Like this!”
Dogs on the horizon. The really lovely thing about this walk was that there were really no animals around. Why would there be? They’d all have gone down the hill a bit where there’s food.
A serene Mal in front of a serene pond.
RELEASE THE HOUNDS!
Me & my snow dogs. Mal is looking so crazed because we asked “Where’s the kitty?” because he was tired and when he’s tired his eyes get all squinty.
Photo 7 from the Lumen Loves to Run In Snow series. Gosh I just love her snow faces.
Trying to pose dogs on a slippery snowy log is harder than expected…
More of Lumen’s snow faces. Go on, Mal, you can do it.
A twisty kind of catch. Amazingly a few photos after this shows her landing on all 4 feet like a cat.
Loki’s like: What are we doing and when are you going to run again?
And then the great game of snowball keep-away began…!
A very alert Lumen, waiting for Nic to throw her a snowball.
Photo 8 from the Lumen Loves Snow series. There’s so much going on here! Mallei’s like: Uh… WTF you doing? And Loki’s like; RUN AWAY VERY FAST! And Lu’s like: It’s mine, ALL MINE! ALL THE SNOW IS MINE!!! MINE MINE MINE MINE!!!
